The FLEETWATCH® JX55
J1708 Data Logger

PRODUCT FEATURES
The FLEETWATCH Model JX55 Data Recorder connects to the J1708 network on a vehicle through an existing SAE J1708/J1939 connector. Data described below can be collected and reported on demand to a FLEETWATCH RF Transceiver (TX55) for transmission to a wayside receiver station (FR55). The vehicle engine and transmission must have electronics necessary to output the requested information through the J1708/J1939 connector. The JX55 unit is programmed with the vehicle number.

FAULT INDICATORS CAPTURED AND REPORTED
Fault Codes reported include Subsystem ID and Failure Mode Identifier as defined in SAEJ1587 documentation. The JX55 reports the last 10 unique Active Fault Codes reported with the Date and Time of the beginning and ending of the last occurrence observed.

LAST VALUE OBSERVED
The JX55 can report the last value observed for 10 items.
The user can select these items which are defined using M.I.D. and P.I.D. codes as defined in SAEJ1587 documentation.

EXAMPLES

M.I.D. P.I.D.
Total Engine Idle Hours 128  235
Total Idle Fuel Used 128  236
Engine Oil Level 128  98
Engine Fuel Level 128  96
Transmission Oil Level 130  124
Average Fuel Economy 128  185
Total Fuel Used 128  250

MAX AND MIN VALUE OBSERVED IN 24 HRS
The JX55 can report the maximum and minimum values observed during the previous 24-hour time period for up to 10 items defined using M.I.D. and P.I.D.codes. The date and time of the minimum and maximum occurrences are also reported. The user can select a set of items to be reported.

JX55 INTEGRATED WITH FLUID MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The JX55 Data Logger, integrated with the FLEETWATCH® Fluid Management System allows automatic collection of vehicle number, life-to-date mileage, engine hours and quantities of fuel and fluids dispensed as well as engine fault codes and other data obtained through the J1708 interface.

Typical fueling sequence using the JX55 with the complete FLEETWATCH® Fluid Management System:

  1. Vehicle pulls into servicing area where the fueler enters employee number into RIH Unit at the fuel island.

  2. Data from the JX55 Data Logger (Vehicle ID, Mileage, Engine Hours, Engine Fault Codes and Select Static and Min & Max Information) is automatically transferred through a FLEETWATCH® TX55 Transceiver to a fixed wayside receiver (FR55) located adjacent to the service lane.

  3. System verifies vehicle’s fuel type and unlocks only those fluids assigned to vehicle.

  4. After the vehicle is serviced, the RIH unit is automatically reset as the vehicle departs to complete the transaction. The FLEETWATCH® System then records the vehicle number, mileage, engine hours, fueler ID, time and date of the transaction and the amount of fuel/fluids dispensed to the vehicle. FLEETWATCH® Data Logger software records and stores all other data transferred from the JX55.
